Sartiglia

On the last Sunday of Carnival and on Shrove Tuesday, from Piazza Duomo the ancient equestrian de La Sartiglia, of Spanish origin, attended by the most skilled horsemen of the island.
Preceded by a series of events and rituals centenarians, as the dressing of Componidori, the race is a real challenge of technique and nerves which consists in inserting, at a gallop with the sword, a little star metal perforated suspended three meters high. By the number of stars they stuck drew auspices for harvest.
Along the center of Oristano thousands of people attend every year to this event which is among the oldest and most important, but also spectacular, Sardinia.
