Sorso

with the long beach of Platamona

Sorso
The City of Sorso, is located north of Sassari, including a long stretch of beach that includes Marina di Sorso and Platamona with beautiful beaches overlooking the Gulf dell, reachable through a beautiful expanse of fields planted with vineyards and olive groves.
Today the town continues to retain its origin linked to the traditions of the land and its fruits, offering visitors the chance to try and buy the products directly from farmers that expose them, as in the past, along the passage, on the doorstep . Relevant and of particular interest are the archaeological sites that are placed in this part of Sardinia.
In Nuragic the area where now stands the town of Sip and its territory were densely populated perhaps for the happy position near the sea and close to many waterways.
Currently, in the locality and Bachileddi The Varrosa, are visible two dolmen polilobati, while others are located in Monte-towered Cau, Corona Ruia, Monte Coivu, Pala Cannedda.
The monument that recalls the era nuragica is the sanctuary of Serra Niedda, located on the village's a vast plateau of plantations and easily accessible along the back road to Lu Parunaggiu.
Discovered in 1985, has not shown signs of a village attached to it but it is hypothesized that it could be a reference to a wider territory; it is clearly visible, a short distance as the crow flies, the relief of Mount Cau.
Votive offerings nuragiche are mainly inside the well and in the outside around the memorial where they practiced the rites; in addition to ceramics and precious amber beads were found, rings, bracelets, necklaces, but also daggers and fifteen figurative bronzes.
Other important historic building is the complex of early medieval Holy Roman Filidiga, located a few meters from the sea, on the coast line between Porto Torres and Castelsardo, in the village, along the highway 200. The complex, only partly in light, is made from the remains of a Roman villa imperial, from a settlement of end V_VI sec. A.D. and a village of the Byzantine era, testimony of a long continuity of life in the site, estimated from the third to the ninth century. A.D.
A holiday here is off the beaten path usual, for those looking for a more unusual Sardinia, where the sea and the hinterland are perfect balance due to the few tourist facilities that allowed the territory to maintain a more true and original.
