Nuragus
Among the white grapes of Sardinia, Nuragus is still the most widely grown today despite a gradual trend to a reduction in area. The presence of this variety is mainly concentrated in the provinces of Cagliari and Oristano, where it covers an area of approximately 3,300 hectares. Its origin, distant in time, places it among the oldest varieties of introduction in Sardinia took place, probably, through the founders Phoenicians of the ancient city of Nora, whose ruins are still visible in the coastal area south-west of Cagliari . The widespread that this varietal has had over the past years, must be sought in its rusticity, the adaptability to any type of terrain and, above all, in its productive generosity. From Nuragus grapes produce a medium alcoholic wine, delicate straw color, sometimes with slight greenish hues, scents of white flowers, green apple and delicate citrus notes, fruity and pleasantly fresh on the palate. And 'it recognized the DOC Nuragus of Cagliari since 1975.
