Cagnulari
This ancient and typical grape finds its chosen environment in a restricted area located to the northwest of the province of Sassari. It prefers calcareous clay soil, loose and well sunny where still today , cultivated with sapling system Sardinian or low controspalliere, is enriched with sugars and polyphenolic substances that give the wine structure and complexity. It has an affinity with Bovale Sardo which many researchers assimilate it, so that it can be presumed to have been also introduced in Sardinia during the Spanish rule. By vinification of this grape variety originates the DOC Alghero Cagnulari. The wine shows a brilliant ruby red with intense and elegant aromas of berries and jam wrapped in mellow and delicate balsamic notes. In the mouth it is intense, warm and delicately soft.
