Orosei
historical capital of Baronìa
About 40 km. from Nuoro, Orosei is the historical capital of Baronìa, built on the site of Roman Fanum Carisi.
The beautiful historical center preserves the sanctuary of Sant'Antonio Abate (XIV-XV sec.) Supported by the tower Pisan Romanesque, the parish church of San Giacomo Maggiore ('600 -' 700), Santa Croce (sec. XVII) , the church of the Rosario (sec. XVII) and the church of Santa Croce (XVIII sec.) culminating with majolica dome.
Along the left bank of the river Cedrino is the small church of S. Maria a Mare (XIII sec.)
At which each year (May 30) is held one of the most beautiful Marian feast of the province.
Northeast of Orosei the shrine of Madonna del Rimedio is one of the most important of Sardinia, rebuilt in the nineteenth century of the previous century building, surrounded by cumbessìas (ancient places of welcome of the novena). Towards the town of Galtellì, you come to the ruins of the castle of Pontes, eleventh century.
South of Orosei stretch the beaches of Marina di Orosei - Osalla, and behind the ponds of the Cedrino.
At about 11 km., To the north, in the direction of Siniscola, a detour leads to the coastline of Cala Liberotto - Cala Ginepro, reaching up to the Oasis of Biderrosa, then Berchida and Capo Comino, the most easterly point of Sardinia and also one of the most beautiful thanks to the wide beaches of white sand and its sea of ??beautiful transparencies.
