Capo d'Orso

at the foot of the famous rock dell'Orso

Capo d'Orso
From Palau, following numerous reports, you arrive at the foot of the famous rock del'Orso, already known in Roman times and a reference point for sailors.
When the asphalt road comes to a curve to Cala Capra, leaving the means to walk along a path to the left.
In ten minutes you walk you reach the monument itself, which gives its name to the promontory on which dominates, at about 122 m. above sea level.
Among the most visited sites in Sardinia, it is a huge granite tafone that the elements were polished and turned over thousands of years to give him the appearance of a bear that looks at one of the most beautiful stretches of the Sardinian coast.
After climbing the bear follows a road that descends to the sea arriving at Cala Capra, sheltered from the wind where there is a small pier.
Not to be missed, always near the promontory Bear, a visit to the beautiful beach of Lido di Vena Longa or Portu Mannu, a cove by the transparent waters.
Continuing from Punta Cardinalino towards the lighthouse of Capo d'Orso, you can get to Cala Casotto, just beyond the military port of the army.
To return to Palau you can turn to Cannigione-Arzachena through the scenic hill Baragge, coming almost in the center or in Baragge at the level crossing.
